I’ve been thinking about something lately. When was the last time you made sure you got something you really wanted for the holidays? And I don’t just mean presents. I mean actually celebrating yourself.
Take Thanksgiving. Every year, I’m in the kitchen with my mom and sisters, cooking all the traditional dishes everyone expects. But the other day, I started thinking: what do I want to eat on Thanksgiving? What’s my favorite dish? Do I make sure it’s on the table every year?
I’M MAKING MYSELF PART OF THE CELEBRATION
And Christmas? As the mom making the lists, buying the gifts, wrapping the presents, and planning the meals, I’ve decided I’m buying myself a Christmas present every year. A birthday present, too.
I’m not saying we need to spend hundreds of dollars every holiday. Sometimes it might be a beautiful perfume. Other times, a favorite dessert, a new book, or a few hours doing absolutely nothing.
So many of us get caught up in making the holidays magical for everyone else that we forget we deserve a little magic ourselves.
I’m still going to love on my family, cook those big dinners, and make those memories. But I’m also going to save a little of that love and attention for me.
What’s one thing you’re going to do just for you this year?
Love, Me ♡
